2. The Service

BriefQuote provides AI-generated trade quotes based on job descriptions entered by the user. The service is intended to assist tradesmen in creating professional quote documents and is not a substitute for professional financial, legal or surveying advice.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a UK-based tradesperson or business to use BriefQuote. By using the service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

4. Free Tier & Pro Subscription

Free tier: Users may generate up to 3 quotes at no charge. No credit card is required.

Pro subscription: After the free tier, a Pro subscription is required at £14.99 per month. The subscription is billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment details.

5. Accuracy of Quotes

BriefQuote generates quotes using AI trained on UK trade rates and industry data. However:

6. VAT & CIS

BriefQuote includes VAT and CIS toggle features for convenience. These are provided as a guide only. You are responsible for ensuring your quotes comply with HMRC requirements. BriefQuote is not a tax adviser — consult an accountant for VAT and CIS advice.

You agree not to:

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design and code on BriefQuote is owned by James Webb. You retain ownership of the quotes you generate. You grant us a limited licence to process your job descriptions solely to provide the service.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BriefQuote shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data or business opportunities, arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We may suspend or modify the service at any time with reasonable notice. We are not liable for any disruption caused by third-party services including Anthropic, Stripe or Vercel.

11. No Warranty

BriefQuote is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the AI-generated quotes will meet your specific requirements.

12. Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time via your Stripe billing portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain Pro access until then. We do not offer refunds for partial months except where required by law.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or in-app notice. Continued use of BriefQuote after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
